Around the end of 2017, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T user across the globe received the official update to Android 8.0 Oreo and Now, OnePlus has started to push their incremental rollout of their Android Oreo 8.1-based OxygenOS 5.1.0 for the OnePlus 5 and 5T. With this update installed, both these handsets would be upgraded to Oxygen OS 5.1.0. In case you are unaware, Oxygen OS is the name of the UI that OnePlus uses on their handsets. As for the update itself, it has been released as an over the air (OTA) update and is more than 766MB in size. The update brings the latest Android security patches up to April 1. New optimizations in gaming mode, including power saving and pausing adaptive brightness. Network boost has been added that is prioritized for gaming app in the background. Category tags have been added to search section of the app drawer and auto name folders, based on category. The full change log according to OnePlus’ official forums is listed below:.

If you have a OnePlus 5 or 5T, you can manually check for the update by opening Settings, scrolling down to System updates, and then tapping Check for updates. For those checking, but not able to receive the update, keep in mind that the update is incremental and will roll out in waves, with more users being added in the coming days. OnePlus is also encouraging users of previous versions of their OS to send feedback through this link.

This is such a wonderful news for most android users like myself. I Think there are a lot of upgrades coming to our screens soon courtesy of the Andoid 8 OTA Upgrade and i can't wait to see this happen on my own device
