The annual curtain-raiser for the top-level English Premier League takes place today, with FA Cup holders Chelsea F.C taking on last season’s Premier League champions Manchester City F.C.
The game will mark new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri’s first competitive game in charge of the Blues, as he pits his wits against tactical mastermind Pep Guardiola in what is sure to be an intense affair. I was surprised to know yesterday after calling DStv Nigeria, Startimes and charting with a representative of Kwese and they all confirmed they will not show the Community Shield game between Manchester City and Chelsea this afternoon. According to the cable TV network, they do not have the rights to air the clash which will be played at Wembley Stadium. When inquiries were made on DStv Twitter Handle about the encounter, which has not been included on their roster, their response was:
“Hi. SuperSport will unfortunately not be broadcasting the Community Shield this weekend, as our bid for broadcast rights was unsuccessful.”
City boss, Pep Guardiola, will be looking to clinch his third piece of silverware in charge of the Etihad club.
All eyes will be on Maurizio Sarri today for his first competitive game at Blues helm |
Chelsea new boss – Sarri, on the other hand, has never won a title throughout his managerial career and would love to kick off his reign at Stamford Bridge with victory in this game. Kick off is scheduled for 3PM at the home of football. Live coverage will be shown exclusively on BT Sport 1, beginning at 2pm with Jake Humphrey and co. The game will also be available to view online on the BT Sport website and via the BT Sport app. Internet and android box gives you freedom and full control. You Might Also Like to Check:
