Google seems to be struggling with keeping its upcoming Pixel devices confidential, as the Pixel 8 Pro falls victim to leaks yet again.
Recently, two photos of Google’s highly anticipated flagship were shared on Reddit, providing an authentic glimpse of the front and rear of what seems to be an actual Pixel 8 Pro being used in the real world. Although the original images were promptly taken down from Reddit, fortunately, Droidlife managed to secure a copy, allowing us to examine the leaked photos.
While the design of the Pixel 8 Pro bears the recognizable Pixel aesthetic, there are a few notable distinctions from its predecessor, the Pixel 7 Pro. The rear photo of the Pixel 8 Pro provides a clear view of the new triple-camera setup, which is now housed entirely within a single glass oval, eliminating the separate telephoto lens seen in the 7 Pro.
Additionally, an intriguing addition can be observed beneath the flash—a novel sensor capable of measuring the user’s body temperature. Unfortunately, no further details regarding the camera specifications have been revealed, although earlier leaks suggest the presence of a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 64-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens.
Furthermore, the back of the phone features a prototype test unit sticker with the label “Zuma,” denoting the code name for Google’s Tensor G3 processor. Another interesting feature, visible on the lower half of the phone, consists of a pattern of lines. However, it remains uncertain whether this design element will be incorporated into the final product, which is slated for release later this year.
The leaked photo showcasing the front of the Pixel 8 Pro reveals the phone’s fastboot screen, which references “Husky” as the rumored codename for the device. The screen also lists impressive specifications, including 12GB of Samsung LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Moreover, it appears that Google has opted for a flat display, deviating from the curved screen design seen in previous iterations.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time we have caught a glimpse of the Pixel 8 Pro. In March, renders of the device with a similar design surfaced online, and the phone made an unofficial appearance in an internal Google video leak back in May. The current leaked images align with the changes indicated in those previous leaks, further solidifying the expectations surrounding its official unveiling later this year.
