YouTube TV Multiview Hits iPhone/iPad: Android Coming Soon

YouTube TV Multiview

Apple TV customers are the first to use YouTube TV‘s Multiview feature, which is causing quite a stir on Google’s premium live TV streaming service. With this new upgrade, sports enthusiasts and multitaskers may now watch up to four stations simultaneously. Here’s an explanation of what Multiview is, how it functions, and when you can expect it on your device—Android users will have to wait a bit longer.

For TV fans, Multiview is the best multitasking option available. It allows you to turn your screen into a split-screen display, displaying up to four separate channels simultaneously. Originally, it was only accessible on TVs. Imagine catching the big game while keeping tabs on other matchups, or following news and entertainment simultaneously!

How Multiview Works on iPhone and iPad

While not quite as robust as its TV counterpart, the mobile adaptation of Multiview still offers a fantastic experience. Here’s how to access it:

  1. Make sure your YouTube TV app is updated. The minimum required version is 8.11.
  2. Open the app and navigate to the “Home” tab.
  3. Look for sections like “Top Picks for You” or “Watch in Multiview.” These areas will contain sports events that are compatible with the feature.

Important Notes:

  • Currently, Multiview on iPhone/iPad is primarily focused on live sports content.
  • It’s a gradual rollout, so if you don’t have access yet, check again soon!

Why iPhone and iPad First?

While it’s understandable that Android users might feel a bit left out, there are likely technical factors at play. Implementing a complex feature like Multiview requires platform-specific optimization. Apple’s iOS may provide a more streamlined development environment in this particular case.

Good news for Android users

Don’t despair, Android fans! It has been verified by YouTube TV that Multiview will soon be available on your devices. In the next months, a formal announcement should be made.
