Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G Unveiled with Bigger Screen, Better Cameras

Samsung is ringing in the next generation of foldable smartphones, starting with the anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 2. The successor to the original Galaxy Fold is bigger in size, better in the camera and design.

Details regarding the smartphone giant’s next foldable phone iteration were unveiled during its planned Unpacked event where the company announced a variety of new products, including the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra.

The original Galaxy Fold was arguably one of the hottest new phones when it arrived last year. However, its innovative concept was marred by a plethora of hardware issues caused by its foldable design. After almost a year since the original Fold hit the market, and a Galaxy Z Flip phone in between, Samsung is finally ready to put the rumors to rest by confirming recent leaks and revealing what consumers can expect from its next foldable smartphone entry.

According to Samsung, When folded, Galaxy Z Fold2 5G is a cutting-edge smartphone with a 6.2-inch screen, delivering one-handed comfort and when unfolded, Galaxy Z Fold2 to reveal a 7.6-inch tablet-like display, made with Samsung Ultra-Thin Glass for smooth flexibility.

It has a punch-hole camera for the inside and the cover display and there are triple rear cameras on the outside. It uses the same Samsung Ultra-Thin Glass that was used in the previous fold model.

The phone is thinner overall (it’s 6mm thick) and has a thinner gap between the displays, making it easier to fit into your pocket. Samsung says that it’s re-engineered the hinge, too, for greater durability.

The phone is powered by Snapdragon 865+ chipset, and it comes with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM plus 256 GB storage. The phone features 5G connectivity, both sub-6 GHz and mmWave. The company did not reveal any other specifications.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G will be available for pre-order on September 1 with more details on pricing and availability to follow.
