After many rumors and leaks, Samsung finally launched the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, the next monarch of its foldable smartphone family.
The new flagship boasts a number of enhancements over previous models. The technology that powers foldable screens is finally reaching its peak in terms of endurance and flexibility. As a result, the display will include S Pen compatibility as well as a selfie camera beneath it. The new foldable has excellent features and may be able to fill the void left by the Galaxy Note series.
Let’s get into the details of the new foldable king without further ado.
Specifications for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G
A Beautiful Folding Display with a Camera Inside
Let’s start with the foldable display, which is the most prominent feature of foldable smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 has a folding display on the inside and a secondary display on the outside. The interior display, which has a 7.6-inch diagonal, is the main attraction. It’s a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate that can be adjusted. Samsung has now added an under-display camera to this device. As a result, the new Z Fold3 is the company’s first smartphone to rely on the new groundbreaking concept. Samsung, unfortunately, isn’t making much noise about this technology. At least not in the same way as the Chinese gang.
The new UTG display is 80 percent more powerful than the Galaxy Z Fold2’s and has 29 percent more brightness.
The resolution of this UDC (Under-Display-Camera) is only 4 MP. It does, however, have the largest 2.0µm pixels of all of the cameras on board, as well as a bright f/1.8 aperture. It’s worth noting that this camera is designed primarily for video calls while using the internal display. After all, the gadget sports a 10 MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture in the punch-hole cover screen for selfies.
The 6.2-inch diagonal of the cover screen is maintained, and Gorilla Glass Victus is used. The significant difference is that the display now has a 120 Hz refresh rate.
S Pen Support
The S Pen is supported by the Z Fold3 inner display. The S Pen Fold Edition or the S Pen Pro are the two options for users. Both styluses have retractable Pro tips with force limit technology that have been particularly created. It protects the main screen of the Z Fold3 and gives you peace of mind when using the stylus.
As its, device lacks a proper slot for the S Pen, Samsung will provide a unique case that will allow users to use the S Pen with the phone.
It is Like a Flagship in Performance
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC is found inside the Galaxy Z Fold3. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the Plus version, but rather the standard one. It remains, however, one of the best flagship SoCs in the market. When it comes to connectivity, the new foldable can support both Sub6 and mmWave 5G networks. 12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage are included with the flagship processor. The phone runs on Android 11 with a One UI overlay. According to reports, the latest version of the software would improve multitasking capabilities, particularly with Microsoft-developed apps.
A Not-So-Revolutionary Camera Setup
Even while Samsung produces some of the most stunning cameras on the market, it cannot justify putting them on its own flagships. The Galaxy Z Fold3 does, however, have the same hardware as its predecessor.
A triple 12 MP camera setup is included in the phone. A 12 MP camera with an f/1.8 lens and a 1/1.76′′ sensor is included. The secondary sensor is a 12 MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor with 1.12µm pixels, while the tertiary sensor is a 12 MP f/2.4 telephoto sensor with a tiny 1.0µm pixel size and 2x zoom.
Dual Pixel AF and Optical Image Stabilization are included in the main camera system. Optical Image Stabilization has also been added to the telephoto lens. A Gorilla Glass Victus coating has been applied to the back panel.
With an IPX8 rating, this is a Strong Build
The Galaxy Z Fold3 is here to banish the foldable lineup’s prior ghosts. Samsung needs to show everyone that its foldable smartphones are reliable, especially after the initial setback. The business offers an Armor Aluminum Frame, which is more durable than any other aluminum frame it has ever offered. The interior screen’s protective panel has been reinforced to resist more misuse.
Surprisingly, the Z Fold3, despite being a tough smartphone, is smaller than its predecessor. At 271 grams, the device is also lighter (This is amazing when you consider that the build resembles a mini Notebook). Regrettably, the battery capacity has been lowered to 4,400mAh, and fast charging is still limited to 25W. Wireless charging at 11 watts and reverse wireless charging at 4.5 watts are also available.
